Seeing the World from a Bird's-Eye-View

Elite Falconry in the United Kingdom takes you on a cruise through the eyes of birds

We tend to live our lives exactly the same from time to time — speaking for myself, of course — and our surroundings don't ever seem to change because of the way we look at them.

However, what if we saw things through the eyes of a bird?

Elite Falconry is an organization that trains hawks, falcons, eagles, vultures, and owls to fly while retaining their natural instincts and independent behavior.

"Elite Falconry was conceived in 1998 in an effort to create a standard setting falconry centre of excellence in Scotland that would stick to the ethos of the word falconry – the art of hunting wild quarry in its natural state using a trained bird of prey."

Also, they put cameras on the birds and provide a really neat look at the world — a view many of us don't get to see every day.

Take a look at this: Marra, a sea eagle from Elite Falconry, takes viewers on a spectacular tour of Scotland as she flies over the Brough of Birsay on the Orkney Islands.

The training center is also open to the public, and bird enthusiasts can browse the winged residents that are learning to fly on site.

Although, in mid-August, a storm wreaked havoc and flooded the facility — putting their visits at a standstill. But, with a little teamwork and comradery, the crew is picking up the pieces and are hoping to open again soon.

They recently announced that all of the staff, birds, and other animals on the property are safe and well.

"On a brighter note we must keep moving onwards and upwards, and thanks to everyone helping us paddle like mad in the background, our business has continued with little disruption."
