FREE "haunted" house is up for grabs in Louisiana

No one wants the home after the former owners share creepy backstories

The housing market may be at a standstill because of the current COVID-19 pandemic, but this particular home is experiencing a bigger, creepier problem.

It's haunted.

The four-bedroom home in Louisiana was built in the 1930s and has earned a spooky reputation because of the stories previous owners have shared with the public. Since then, no one has dared to move in — even though it's completely free.

One of the former residents says the home is haunted by her great grandmother, Adele.

Apparently, the woman (her spirit/ghost) is known for cooking things in the kitchen and then leaving them unattended.

It sounds like something I'd do when I was a teenager. However, this woman was a 4' 9" woman in her late 80s, so it sounds like she's doing it intentionally. Sometimes even the pots and pans start moving around on there own.

Realtor Sylvia McLain has now even resorted to Facebook to try and "get rid" of the place for free. She hasn't had any takers just yet. Some people have commented on the post, using it as a place to share their experiences inside the spooky house.

One of the previous owners said, "We believe [Adele] is the ghost, but she's not menacing at all. She lived to be almost 90 and she was always digging in the pots, like when you have something on the stove and someone goes and looks in the pot and stirs it around."

"She was well-known for that, and so when we lived there, we used to hear her all the time jangling the pots when we had something on the stove."

Then again, these are all rumors surrounding the so-called haunted house.

Some people aren't taking it seriously, while others are comparing it to the famous house in Amityville — you know, the one where a man shot and killed six members of his own family.

Having that lovely thought in the brain of home buyers hasn't really helped either.

Would you willingly live in this house for free? Oh, you would? Wait, there's a catch!

Prospective homeowners and die-hard fans of the paranormal may think that getting a haunted house for free is a steal of a deal, but the purchase would require you to physically move the building off of the property.

The realty company needs the house off of the property so it can be refurbished elsewhere, giving the city freedom to do something else with the spot of land. The relocation process would take at least $80,000 (according to the realty company).

I wonder what Adele thinks about all of this?
