With Record Store Day 2020 postponed, there are still ways to support record shops

Online Film Festival offers a free screening and options to donate.

Every year, vinyl enthusiasts anticipate the release of new records and singles, hard to find albums, new pressings of older records, and awesome merchandise — also known as Record Store Day.

The day also gives record shops all around the world an opportunity to cash in on the huge crowds, while gaining exposure through the eyes of those who may not normally visit a record store.

With the recent COVID-19 pandemic taking over the world, Record Store Day 2020 — like every other event and festival — has been postponed. However, it's hard to keep the music driven holiday down.

For a limited time, RecordStoreDay.com and its Record Store Day Film Fest (online, of course) is screening one of the films for free from Friday, April 17 - Friday, April 24.

It's the "Official Film of Record Store Day 2011" and it's viewable for free at jeaniefinlay.com. There's ever going to be a #tweetalong Watch Party with filmmaker Jeanie Finlay, Tom from the record store Sound It Out.

In addition, there are two other documentaries available to screen online and with each purchased ticket 100% of the profit will be given back to participating record stores.

Other documentaries available to screen during the online Record Store Day Film Fest:

Vinyl Nation

Other Music

In order to purchase tickets to either of these documentaries, pick the local record shop you'd like to donate to at RecordStoreDay.com.

If the record store you love to visit but haven't been able to because of the temporary closures, check to see if they're offering online orders or curbside pickup.
