The Ocean is a Terrifying Place - Try to Convince me Otherwise

Aside from providing beautiful beaches, the oceans offer a 24-hour horror show.

The planet we're currently calling "home" is surrounded by an infinite darkness that helms stars, planets, and unidentified flying objects, but that's not all humans are surrounded by. If you look a little closer, about 71% of Earth's surface is covered in water, and the oceans hold nearly 97% of that.

Now, if you were to tell me (someone who's not too crafty when it comes to swimming) that the ocean isn't a scary mass of liquid waiting to swallow you up, I'd have to splash around in anxious frustration and kindly ask you to prove me wrong.

Sure, outer space is equally as terrifying with all of the hurling comets, alien lifeforms, and satellites, but knowing that the oceans hold 94% of Earth's living residents can be a little overwhelming — easily making humans a small minority.

Can you imagine scuba diving in the depths of the ocean near Australia and accidentally bumping into a Blobfish?

I mean, the species even has human-like features. It looks exactly like me when I'm watching Old Yeller and trying to hold back the tears.

Another crushing and horrendous thing to know about the ocean is that certain areas have enough pressure to pop you like a zit. The Mariana Trench, which is 35,802 feet below the ocean's surface, has a water pressure of eight tons per square inch.

It'd be like having 50 jumbo jets parked on top of you. Try wrapping your mind around that.

However, the website Neal.Fun and Neal Agarwal have helped me manage my anxiety when it comes to sinking to the bottom of the horrific ocean. Go ahead, travel to the bottom of the ocean — if you dare — and see what's lurking below.

Did you know there's something called a Headless Chicken Monster that hangs out about 2,960 meters below the ocean's surface? See for yourself down below...

If you enjoyed that as much as I did, check out the other animated works of art found at Neal.Fun. There's even one about space if you want to be reminded of how small us humans really are in the universe.
