World UFO Day 2020: Celebrating the Unknown

Data shows a spike in the amount of UFO sightings reported over the past 30 years.

World UFO Day lands on July 2 every year.

It's a holiday for the UFO community to come together to celebrate their beliefs in extra-terrestrials, according WorldUFODay.com. The website also says the day is also used to encourage governments to declassify their knowledge about sightings.

Personally, I like to recognize the day by watching UFO films and documentaries, wearing tinfoil on my head, and trying my best to convince my family and friends that there are aliens watching us from a safe distance.

"The most important thing is that people collectively open their minds to the subject for one day and send out the message mentally that UFOs are welcome on this earth," according to WorldUFODay.com.

The National UFO Reporting Center, which gathers all of the statistics about global UFO sightings, says there were just over 3,700 reported sightings in 2018 and more than 6,800 in 2019 in the U.S.

Interestingly enough, people spotted nearly 4,700 UFO sightings in the U.S. this year. The center’s data shows a spike in the amount of UFO sightings reported over the past 30 years.

Additionally, UFO sightings are on the radar more and more these days thanks to Tom Delonge, To The Stars, the Pentagon’s official release of UFO videos.

Here are some numbers on the states that have seen the most and fewest reported UFOs so far this year, according to SatelliteInternet.com.

Top Five U.S. States for UFO Sightings

  1. Washington

  2. Montana

  3. Vermont

  4. Alaska

  5. Maine

Top Five U.S. States for Fewest UFO Sightings

  2. Louisiana

  3. Georgia

  4. Mississippi

  5. Alabama

One thing to note about UFOs is that it can be literally anything in the sky unidentified.

Does that mean an alien life form? Of course! That's just my opinion, though.
