Using the Mind to Heal and Transform

Self-awareness as a key to unlocking your hidden potential

The body that you're using right now isn't the same body that you woke up with. Grasp that.

The human body stays in a steady mode of regeneration; an awareness that makes it seem as though we have no control over such a process, but science is diligently proving that nothing could be further from fact.

Simply put - nothing has more say in the state of your body than does your mind.

From the thoughts you choose (or are subconsciously programmed) to think to the emotions that you find yourself caught up in and dwelling on; All that the mind perceives, the body receives and uses as building blocks for its makeup, regeneration, and healing (or lack-thereof).

That, however, does not have to equate to a sickly body, difficulty throughout the aging process, or illnesses that are "in the genes" (Ps. genetics make up a mere 5-10% of the actuality of an individual encountering the illness or disease of blood relatives).

"It means that our fate does not reside in disease genes. Our health is in our own hands." -Dr Jonathan Latham, Executive Director of the Bioscience Resource Project

Self-awareness is the medicine and the preventative

When your awareness is congested or distracted, the flow of energy and information through the body and mind are restricted. That's how you find yourself in cycles of harmful mentalities, toxic relationships, and leading a life that's less than fulfilling. That's how you create habits of letting stress take an instantaneous toll and chip away at you with the days.

How does one de-congest awareness and the path of energy and information?

One of the leading principles of harnessing your individual power lies in practices of mindfulness and self-awareness. When you expand your awareness you allow energy to flow more freely; increasing balance, flexibility, and creativity. You become more compassionate and healing in your relationship with the outside world, beginning from within. Possibilities become more open and obvious; possibilities to create a life more joyfully experienced.

Tools for self-awareness

You've likely heard that meditation and yoga are super swell for increasing mindfulness and self-awareness, but you're in no way limited to those (powerful) means! The following are some practical applications for paying greater attention and choosing more intentionally how you encounter your life, as compiled by Deepak Chopra and Dr Rudy Tanzi in their book, Super Brain:

  • Be passionate about your life and the experiences that fill it.

  • Remain open to as much input as possible.

  • Don't shut down the feedback loop with judgment, rigid beliefs, and prejudices.

  • Examine other points of view as if they were your own.

  • Take responsibility for making conscious choices.

  • Work on psychological blocks such as shame and guilt, which falsely color your reality.

  • Free yourself emotionally - emotional resiliency is the best defense against rigidity.

  • Harbor no secrets - they create dark space in the psyche.

  • Be willing to redefine yourself every day.

  • Don't regret the past or fear the future - both bring misery through self-doubt.

As you cultivate new habits for expanding your self-awareness you will organically witness examples of greater happiness, well-being, and Love growing in all aspects of your life.

Harness that power, yo!
